A man was convicted for illegal possession of a samurai sword after accidentally injuring himself with it and being reported to police by hospital staff.

Shaun Hogg, 45, of Ipswich, Suffolk, was arrested and received a four-month suspended prison sentence after calling 999 when he fell on his samurai sword while cleaning it, cutting his chin, and was reported to police by hospital staff who suspected he had an illegal weapon.
