Israel has retrieved the body of the final hostage held in Gaza, paving the way for the next stage of the US-backed peace process to begin.

The Israeli military retrieved the body of Master Sgt Ran Gvili, the final Gaza hostage missing since October 7, 2023, after 843 days, enabling the next phase of US President Donald Trump's peace plan to proceed, which includes reopening Gaza's Rafah border crossing with Egypt.
