A UK study of nearly 125,000 women, including 11,000 MRI brain scans, published in Psychological Medicine found menopause is linked to grey matter loss in brain regions like the hippocampus, entorhinal cortex, and anterior cingulate cortex, similar to Alzheimer's changes, and hormone replacement therapy did not prevent this loss.
