Sri Lanka introduces a shorter work week and fuel rationing to cope with energy shortages caused by the Middle East conflict disrupting oil and gas shipments.

Sri Lanka is introducing a four-day working week starting Wednesday, with state institutions, schools, and universities operating only four days a week and civil servants working from home where possible, to preserve shrinking fuel and gas reserves caused by the Middle East conflict that has blocked the Strait of Hormuz for two weeks, limiting motorists to 15 litres of petrol or diesel per week and public transport to 200 litres.
