Shanice Brookes, a 30-year-old mother-of-one and charity worker, was fatally shot as an innocent bystander outside the One Four One bar on West Street in Sheffield at around 02:45 BST on Bank Holiday Monday, May 25, 2026. The shooting followed an altercation in the street, according to South Yorkshire Police. Jemele Rhone, 30, has been charged with murder, possession of a firearm, and possession of criminal property. Deiryen Dyce, 32, has been charged with assisting an offender, possession of ammunition, possession of drugs with intent to supply, possession of drugs, and possession of criminal property. Both were scheduled to appear at Sheffield Magistrates' Court on Friday, May 29, 2026, though reports indicate Rhone failed to appear due to his mental health and Dyce appeared in person. A 30-year-old man previously arrested on suspicion of murder has been released and is no longer considered a suspect. Sheffield Crown Court has scheduled a further hearing for June 1, 2026. Police continue to appeal for information, and the Crown Prosecution Service has reminded the public that proceedings are active and the defendants have a right to a fair trial.
